Hyundai Nexo FCEV Euro NCAP results explained
While the hydrogen fuel-cell car market is still a niche worldwide, big manufacturers like Hyundai are making a big bet on this technology for the future of automobiles. One such product is the Nexo FCEV, which has recently been subjected to the harsh Euro NCAP crash testing to measure its safety.
As expected by the company, the Nexo FCEV scored a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP tests. Moreover, the overall score displayed that the Nexo is 90 percent safe for adult occupants and 85 percent for child occupants as per the rules and testing conducted.
As per the released details, the cabin structure of the car remained intact in the frontal offset testing, providing knee protection, femur protection, and protection to the other body regions for the adult occupants. Additionally, the FCEV received maximum points in the side barrier crash test, providing whiplash protection to the front and rear passengers.
As far as the child occupant safety is concerned, the Nexo FCEV passed with flying colours as it provided the best protection to the eight and ten-year-old child dummies in the frontal offset crash and side barrier tests, thus offering a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
As far as the launch of a hydrogen FCEV is concerned in India, Hyundai has earlier revealed that it is assessing the market and the feasibility of the FCEVs and their future in India.
