Kia EV2 breaks cover with a range of 488 km – India launch soon?

Kia has finally taken the cover off its smallest electric car ever. The all-new EV2 has been unveiled in the international market, and it is expected to be launched in India soon. Read its complete details below.

Kia EV2

The all-new EV2 is Kia’s sixth electric car based on the E-GMP platform. It is also the smallest EV of the brand, as it measures 4,060 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 2,565 mm in height.

The EV2 takes its design inspiration from the bigger Kia electric cars like the EV9. It gets the signature ‘tiger face’ design that has the unique vertical split LED headlights, chiselled body panels, a boxy shape for improved cabin space, body cladding all around, and dual-tone alloy wheels ranging from 16- to 18-inch for the regular variants and 19-inch for the GT-Line variant.

On the inside, the EV2 has a roomy cabin space to accommodate four adults with ease. Its interior styling is similar to the Kia Syros, as it comes loaded with a similar dashboard that has the connected screen display, a two-spoke steering wheel, dual-tone leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lights, Harman Kardon sound system, OTA updates, wireless connectivity, electric seats with ventilation, and ADAS safety features.

The interesting bit about its interiors is the availability of a 4-seater option. However, customers can also get a 5-seater option as standard. The 4-seater option offers reclining second-row seats, and offer a boot space of up to 403 litres.

Powering the EV2 are two battery options: a 42.2 kWh pack with 317 km of range and a 61 kWh pack with up to 488 km of WLTP-claimed range. The standard variants get a 147 bhp electric motor setup, while the long-range variants will get a 136 bhp electric motor setup. It is based on a 400V architecture, which enables DC charging support. Kia is yet to reveal the charging timing of the EV2.

As far as its launch is concerned, Kia will first introduce it in the European and the US markets. The EV2 is expected to be launched in India and other market by the end of 2026 or early 2027. It will compete with the Renault 4 and the Volkswagen ID Cross in the international markets.
