- New sliding second-row seats arrive on the 2026 Jeep Meridian.
- Up to 140 mm of travel improves third-row space and boot flexibility.
- Feature rolls out on Limited and Overland variants.
Jeep India has given the Meridian a meaningful update for 2026. The brand has introduced sliding second-row seats on select variants. It sounds simple, but it fixes one of the few real-world complaints owners had. When all seven seats were in use, the third row felt a bit tight. Not anymore.
What’s new?
The new sliding mechanism allows the second row to move forward or backward by up to 140 mm. That lets users choose between better legroom for third-row passengers or extra luggage space at the back. It also makes it easier to get into the last row, thanks to a forward tilt function. Families will appreciate this more than another chrome strip.
Jeep has added this feature to the Limited and Overland trims. It keeps the lineup clean and focused on buyers who care about comfort and long-distance usability. The second row also gets improved recline angles, which should make long drives less of a stretch, literally.
What is unchanged?
The rest of the Meridian stays familiar. The design remains bold and clean, with Jeep’s seven-slot grille and strong road presence. Inside, the cabin continues to feel premium. Soft-touch materials, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats remain part of the package.
Safety continues to be a strong point. The Meridian offers over 70 active and passive safety features. ADAS is available on select variants. Jeep has tuned these systems for Indian driving conditions, which matters more than fancy spec-sheet numbers.
Power comes from the same 2.0-litre diesel engine. It produces 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The Selec-Terrain 4×4 system stays on higher trims. It gives the Meridian real off-road ability, not just SUV posturing. Fuel efficiency remains decent for a vehicle of this size.
Prices start at just over INR 30 lakh for the updated variants with sliding seats. The broader Meridian range still begins lower. Bookings are open across Jeep dealerships in India.
