Tesla Model S and Model X discontinuation soon – Here’s why

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, recently conducted the yearly company earnings call, which ended with a rather sad note for the Tesla fanatics. The US-based EV maker has announced that it will axe the Model S, its first car ever, and the Model X in the next quarter.

The reason stated behind their discontinuation is the end of the lifecycle. The Model S was introduced in 2012, and it has been nearly 15 years since it has been in the production. Additionally, Elon Musk added that the company is moving towards complete autonomous technology, which is not possible for the Model S and Model X to receive via updates.

Meanwhile, the more advanced and affordable cars like the Model Y and Model 3 are performing well, which further takes away the practicality of continuing the production of these models. However, Elon Musk also added that it is the right time now to order the Model S and Model X.
