What do we know about BYD’s India-specific EV?
BYD’s Executive Vice President, Stella Li, recently confirmed that the Chinese brand is developing a new EV that is meant only for the Indian market. This reveal was made at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, UAE.
The official also added that the brand is aware of the capacity and sales capabilities of the Indian EV consumers. Hence, the new EV is being designed and developed for the Indian consumers, whose development is already underway at BYD’s Shenzhen-based facility.
However, no further details were unveiled about this mysterious India-specific EV. Even the launch timeline was not revealed, leaving us wondering whether it is an SUV or a crossover. Additionally, the official also confirmed that the company is not eyeing to establish a local assembly or production facility in India, but the focus is on product planning and introducing new region-specific models.
