Mercedes-Benz has launched the much-awaited GLC Electric SUV in India. The new GLC EV will be manufactured at the company’s Pune-based production plant, and the company has already received more than 1,000 bookings, with the GLC EV already sold out till March 2027.

Mercedes-Benz GLC EV: Battery, specs, range, charging

Powering the electric GLC is a 94kWh battery pack. The EV is sold in a single GLC 400 variant, and it gets a dual-motor setup that powers all four wheels. The EV generates up to 490 bhp and 800 Nm, while it offers a WLTP-claimed range of 711 km.

Despite weighing 2.5 tonnes, the GLC EV can sprint 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Mercedes has equipped it with a two-speed gearbox, where one gear is tuned for performance and the other is tuned for efficiency.

The GLC EV is based on an 800V architecture, and it supports up to 330kW DC charging. It can be juiced with 300 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging. However, the Indian-spec model misses out on the rear-wheel steering and air suspension that is offered on the global variants.

Exterior design

The exterior styling of the GLC EV is largely inspired by the ICE version. However, the talking point is its massive illuminated grille that packs up to 914 individual LEDs. This setup lights the whole grille and resembles the long vertical chrome grille of iconic models like the W114. This grille also gets custom lighting patterns that play when the car is switched on or off, or when it is parked.

Other design elements include the tri-LED daytime running lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, AMG Styling Pack, and the wraparound circular LED taillights with a black panel housing. Overall, it features a smooth design with clutter-free elements that keep its look classy.

Dimension-wise, it is 140 mm longer, 12 mm taller, and 23 mm wider than the ICE GLC. The wheelbase is also up by 84 mm. Mercedes is offering six exterior colours for the GLC EV.

Interior and features

The interior design of the GLC EV features a massive 39.1-inch Hyperscreen display on the dashboard. This screen covers the entire dashboard, and it packs the touch controls for HVAC and infotainment.

The three-spoke AMG steering wheel gets the rocker switches and buttons for ADAS, MID, infotainment, and other controls. The rest of the interior uses wood, aluminium, leather, and metal for a high-quality finish.

The 15-speaker Burmester sound system gets finished with the AMG Line treatment. Meanwhile, interior themes get up to three options: Black, Ivory Beige, and Beech Brown.

The list of features is also lengthy on the GLC EV. It gets a panoramic sunroof, Level 2+ ADAS, wireless charging, custom cabin LED ambient lighting, AI-enabled functions, an electric tailgate, a 360-degree camera, auto parking assist, 8 cameras, 5 radars, and more.
