What is new on the 2026 Ducati DesertX?
The first and foremost change on the new DesertX is the all-new 890cc V2 liquid-cooled motor that replaces the old 937cc Testastretta engine. This engine also powers the updated Multistrada V2 and the Panigale V2, as it makes 110 bhp and 92 Nm of power and torque.
Ducati claims that up to 70% torque comes at as low as 3,000 rpm, while the gear ratios on the DesertX have been specifically tailored for better riding. It gets the first four gears with short ratios, while the last two gears get longer ratios for relaxed high-speed touring.
Moving on, it now gets an all-new monocoque frame that uses the engine as a stress member. This is set to improve the overall agility of the bike. Even the rider triangle has undergone a change, as the footpegs have been moved to the rear, while the handlebar has been moved towards the front.
The 880 mm seat height might not be to everyone’s liking, hence Ducati offers an optional suspension and seat kit with 840 mm height, which will be helpful for short riders. Meanwhile, the 18-litre fuel tank is now slimmer, all thanks to the lower sump that helps in lowering the centre of gravity.
Other additional changes include a heavily revised suspension that now offers fully adjustable KYB USD forks with 230 mm travel on the front, and a new monoshock with a full-float linkage system with 220 mm travel at the rear. It rides on the 21-inch/18-inch tubeless spoke rims with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR off-road tyres.
On the electronics front, it comes with the 5-inch TFT console, Bluetooth connectivity, and a six-axis IMU with features like cornering ABS, wheelie control, and more. It also gets six riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro, and Rally.
With all these changes, it is now 1 kg lighter than the outgoing DesertX. Ducati has confirmed that the 2026 DesertX will be launched in India by Q4, while the European deliveries will begin in April 2026.
