Triumph is soon going to undergo a big shift. The brand will introduce a new 350cc range due to the GST slabs. However, in the midst of this big, makeshift setup, the brand also plans on keeping its 400cc range alive alongside the new, downsized models. Read below for all details.

Why will Triumph keep selling the 400cc bikes in India?

The new GST 2.0 slabs that came into effect in 2025 have had a great impact on the big manufacturers like Royal Enfield and Bajaj that make bikes above 350cc. The new slabs had increased the GST on the bikes above 350cc to 40%. This has eventually led to a substantial increase in the prices of the big bikes.

However, Triumph, which is operated by Bajaj in India, has borne the price impact and kept the prices as they are for its 400cc models like the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X. However, not long ago, Rajiv Bajaj announced that the 350cc range will be launched in April 2026, which will be essentially a downsized version of the current 400cc bikes.

But the twist in the story is that Bajaj has internally decided to keep selling the 400cc models alongside the new 350cc range. The reason behind this strategy is clear: the brand wants to read the public feedback. In fact, the fate of the 400cc Triumph bikes in India depends on the customer interest in the future.

Moreover, Bajaj manufactures the 400cc models for Triumph in India and exports them to the international markets. Since the exports will remain as it is, the 400cc range can be easily sold alongside the 350cc bikes at no additional development cost.

Meanwhile, the new 350cc models will undercut the GST taxation slab and subject to only 18% tax, which will in turn make them much more affordable. We are expecting a massive price drop with the new 350cc bikes of up to Rs 50,000.
