What to expect from the upcoming Triumph 350cc bikes?
The upcoming 350cc engine and new models based on it will be essentially a detuned version of the current 398cc models. Triumph had previously announced that it would introduce a downsized range because of the new GST 2.0 rules.
With that said, this new range will be launched on April 6, as confirmed by the brand. Moreover, the new range will include the Speed, Scrambler, and Thruxton nameplates.
Online reports hint that this engine will offer around 35 bhp of peak power and 32-33 Nm of peak torque, while being paired to a 6-speed transmission. Moreover, the reduced power output will likely improve the low-end throttle response and mid-range performance.
Triumph was substantially affected by the new GST 2.0 slabs, which hiked the tax from 18% to 40% on two-wheelers more than 350cc. The brand has been absorbing the increased rates so that buyers do not get affected, but the only solution was to launch a new model range with reduced engine capacity.
The reduced engine capacity will also allow Bajaj to decrease the rates. This will further attract more buyers. Additionally, Bajaj will continue selling the 400cc Triumph bikes along with the new 350cc bikes, and the future of the 400cc models will be decided as per the customer response in the coming months.
