- India launch on December 2, 2026
- To compete with Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, etc
Honda has dropped the first teaser for its upcoming electric car, which is scheduled to debut in India on December 2, 2026. The new teaser has confirmed two big details: first is the new Honda logo, and second is the name of the EV.
Honda has announced that this EV will be called the Alpha. This name has been derived from the first letter of the Greek alphabet, which denotes a new beginning for the brand in the Indian market.
Interestingly, the Alpha will be Honda’s first-ever electric car, and it will mark its global debut via India. The EV will also be exported from India, as the brand has hinted at local manufacturing of the Alpha, which is likely to take place in its Rajasthan-based facility.
Moreover, the brand has also unveiled its new logo with the H pattern. Honda has redesigned the logo several times since it began car manufacturing in 1963. The Alpha will be the first Honda car in India to boast this new logo.
Honda has been testing the Alpha EV in India with a purple camouflage, which we shared earlier. The Alpha EV will be positioned against the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Windsor EV.
The previous sightings of the test cars also revealed that it will feature a tall-boy design, aerodynamic bodywork, and a vertical boot with a unique H-shaped LED light pattern. The cabin is also expected to offer a spacious seating arrangement, along with smart features that are likely to boast AI asisstance at a large level.
Powering the Alpha will be a multitude of battery options. Although it will only get a front-wheel-drive, its real-world range could plunge ahead of 400 km mark.
Honda will launch the Alpha in India on December 2, 2026. We anticipate that it could be priced somewhere around Rs 25-30 lakh.
