Honda CB1000 Hornet SP recalled in India

Key Highlights

  • Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has issued a voluntary recall for the CB1000 Hornet SP.
  • The recall covers units manufactured between September 30, 2024 and August 22, 2025.
  • Two issues have been identified: fuel feed hose routing and engine oil consumption.

This is not the first time the CB1000 Hornet SP has been recalled in India, and that detail is worth noting. HMSI has announced a voluntary recall for select units of the CB1000 Hornet SP, covering motorcycles produced between September 30, 2024 and August 22, 2025. Two technical concerns have been identified, both of which will be addressed free of cost at Honda’s BigWing Topline dealerships.

What is the issue?

The first issue involves the routing of the fuel feed hose, which may require inspection to confirm it is properly secured under certain conditions. If found to be improperly positioned, Honda will correct the routing at no charge.

The second issue relates to engine oil consumption. In some units, oil consumption may vary due to certain component characteristics. If oil levels are not monitored regularly, changes in oil pressure could affect normal engine operation. Honda will inspect and replace the relevant engine components wherever required.

This is significant because the engine oil issue is the same concern that triggered a previous recall for the CB1000 Hornet SP in January 2026, which covered units from the same production period. The fact that a second recall campaign has been initiated for the same issue suggests that the earlier corrective action may not have fully resolved it for all affected units.

How can this be resolved?

Affected owners will be contacted directly by their nearest BigWing Topline dealership. Owners can also check whether their unit falls under this recall by submitting their 17-digit VIN on Honda’s official website.

The CB1000 Hornet SP is currently priced at Rs 13.29 lakh (ex-showroom) and is one of Honda’s flagship super-naked motorcycles in India, competing against the Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, and Triumph Street Triple 765 RS. Honda has confirmed the inspection and rectification process will be carried out regardless of the motorcycle’s warranty status.
