The 2026 Honda City facelift has been spotted at a dealership without any camouflage. The launch is four days away, on May 22. But the cat is already out of the bag.
A video shared on social media shows the updated City parked inside what appears to be a private premises, likely Honda’s plant or a dealer stockyard. The front end is fully visible. No disguise, no coverings. This is exactly what the new City will look like when it goes on sale.
What has changed
The biggest changes are at the front. Honda has given the City a sharper, more contemporary face. The new LED headlamps are slimmer. There is a new DRL that runs across the hood. The grille features a layered horizontal mesh pattern and flows more cleanly between the headlamps. The lower bumper is updated with angular side inserts and a cleaner central air intake.
The design takes clear inspiration from Honda’s global lineup, specifically the newer Accord and Prelude. It looks more upmarket and mature than the current City. The side profile and rear appear largely unchanged, which makes sense for a mid-life facelift.
Inside, Honda is expected to add a 360-degree camera, updated infotainment, ventilated front seats, and additional ADAS features. Nothing has been confirmed officially yet.
What stays the same
The powertrain is unchanged. The petrol variant continues with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine making 121 PS and 145 Nm, offered with a 6-speed manual and CVT. The hybrid variant uses the same 1.5-litre strong hybrid setup producing 124 PS with an e-CVT. No mechanical changes are expected.
The current City starts at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). A slight price increase is expected with the facelift.
The Competition
The City will continue to go up against the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus. The Verna got a full redesign in 2023 and remains the segment leader. The Slavia and Virtus offer a turbocharged engine option that driving enthusiasts prefer.
