Tata-Stellantis JV to make new Jeep, export to 50 nations
Tata-Stellantis have been in a joint venture for nearly 20 years. Both brands work together and manufacture their vehicles at Maharashtra-based plant, where Jeep makes the Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Meridian, whereas Tata makes the Curvv, Nexon, and Altroz.
Now, Stellantis is set to take this 50:50 partnership to a new level. The brand has announced that it will develop a new Jeep model in India with Tata’s help. In fact, the platform of the next-gen Jeep will be provided by Tata itself.
This step comes after both brands signed an MoU in February 2026 to expand and work on localisation. Jeep’s India Plan 2.0 also includes the main aim to expand and use India as its global production hub by hefty localisation.
As of now, it is not clear whether Tata will offer an existing platform with changes, or will Tata make a brand new platform for Stellantis. Meanwhile, Jeep assures that it is serious for the Indian market and it will launch the special edition models in 2027 to keep the buzz up, until the brand comes up with a localised SUV in the future.
