Tesla is feeling the Indian heat. By that, we mean that the brand has been trying to find a way out of poor sales in India, and the result is a massive price cut that has just rolled out on the Model Y’s base variant. Know more details below.

2026 Tesla Model Y RWD Premium prices slashed
Ever since Tesla launched its first and only car to date in India, the US-based EV maker has been struggling with sluggish sales. In fact, Tesla also gave big discounts on the MY25 units earlier this year, but even that could not pull sales.
While the reason behind the slow sales could be the presence of BYD, which offers more range and performance, along with a tech-packed cabin, Tesla has not given up. In a dire attempt, the brand has reshuffled the Model Y’s range in India. The base Premium RWD variant is now cheaper by Rs 9 lakh, which has brought down its ex-showroom price to Rs 50.89 lakh.
On the other hand, the range-topping Premium Long-Range RWD has now been discontinued. It was priced at Rs 67.89 lakh, and it seems that Tesla could not find many buyers of this variant, hence it is out of the box now. The second variant that is left is the Model Y L Premium, which was recently launched with a six-seater layout, priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Since the Tesla range now begins at Rs 50.89 lakh and goes to Rs 61.99 lakh, the huge price gap of Rs 11.10 lakh between these models is unjust for buyers. Hopefully, Tesla will soon introduce newer models, which we expect will be more affordable.
