Audi has unveiled the new generation Q7 with a significant update to its exterior and interior. Not only a new design, but the new Q7 also gets a three-row captain seating layout for the first time. Know the complete details below.

New exterior design

The new-gen Q7 is the first big update in the nameplate after 11 years. Hence, it packs a substantial update in terms of the design. The overall silhouette of the SUV is now more upright and bold.

The front fascia now packs an upright stance as it uses the new tri-LED daytime running lights and the new vertical Matrix LED headlamps. The grille is much bigger with a honeycomb design, and the lower part of the bumper packs a big air dam with silver garnish.

Audi has kept the bodyline simple yet muscular. The side profile of the new Q7 resembles a proper urban SUV with the conventional door handles, integrated roof rails, and big greenhouse. The new Q7 also comes with new 20-inch alloys, which can be upgraded to 23-inch.

The rear profile is more in line with the new Q5. It features the segmented LED taillights, an illuminated Audi logo, a connected LED lightbar, vertical LED turn signals, and a sporty bumper with piano black and silver highlights.

Interior updates

On the inside, the new cabin design now features a driver-oriented dashboard that embeds a new triple-screen display. The central infotainment screen now hosts almost all functionalities of the Q7, including the AC controls, seat ventilation, wireless connectivity, and more.

Meanwhile, the new four-spoke steering wheel gets a column-mounted gearshift, a new digital driver console, and an augmented reality HUD. The cabin features a beautiful mix of three-tone leather upholstery, including the suede beige seats and panels, wooden trims, and black leather.

For the first time, Audi has added captain seats for the second row. The Q7 will be available in a six-seater layout, along with five and seven-seater layout options as earlier. The door panels at the rear get the wooden trim for the buttons, along with a brushed aluminium finish.

New interior features include the optional transparent and illuminated panoramic sunroof, a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with 4D audio, connected car tech, ADAS safety features, Boss Mode, electronic parking brake, and more.

Engine specs

The new-gen Q7 is based on the Premium Platform Combustion architecture. Hence, it is offered with three engine options as follows:

  • 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine making 429 bhp and 599 Nm, paired to an 8-speed AT and Quattro AWD.
  • 3.0-litre V6 TDI mild-hybrid engine making 245 bhp and 500 Nm in base spec and 299 bhp and 600 Nm in higher spec, paired to an 8-speed AT and Quattro AWD.
  • SQ7 variant with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine making 591 bhp and 800 Nm, paired to an 8-speed AT and Quattro AWD.

Interestingly, the 3.0 TDI can also run on the hydrotreated vegetable oil. Meanwhile, the SQ7 can sprint 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

India launch timeline

The new-gen Audi Q7 production will begin in September 2026. It is expected to launch in India later this year or early next year. It will rival the Mercedes-Benz GLE and the BMW X5.
