At Le Mans 2026, BMW unveiled its latest M Concept Neue Klasse, which previews the brand’s upcoming M models’ design philosophy. The electric M Concept features a new M Division design language, which is set to house the new M models, likely including the upcoming M3 electric.
Although the brand did not confirm whether it is the M3 electric concept or not, it is widely believed to be so. Speaking of the design, the car gets a four-door sedan styling with a wider footprint, a low-slung profile, and an aggressive styling.
The front fascia packs the new M Yellow daytime running lights with an illuminated grille and the Neue Klasse grille. The vertical LED lights on the extreme ends of the front bumper are complemented by the sharp design that splits the lower grille into two halves. The car also gets LED track lights on both ends.
Meanwhile, the side fenders, body line, mirrors, and the ducktail rear profile are inspired by a sweeping design that boasts aerodynamic capabilities. The rear also uses a connected light setup, an integrated diffuser, and a spoiler. The concept car was revealed in a Monza Red colour with black roof and mirrors, along with low-profile Mobolock black alloys.
The cabin of the concept car packs four race seats, which are set to be replaced by a rear bench to accommodate passengers on the production versions. Meanwhile, it is the first BMW M model to feature the natural fibre and black nubuck leather on the steering wheel, door panels, and roll cage.
The interior design includes the sloping dashboard that merges with the door panels seamlessly. The dashboard gets a BMW Panoramic iDrive system that includes a full-width screen on the lower part of the front windshield and a hexagonal floating infotainment screen. The new four-spoke steering wheel also gets the controls for brakes and regen, which helps to control the car through buttons only.
BMW did not reveal the electric powertrain specifications, but it was revealed that it features an 800V architecture and a battery pack with a capacity of above 100 kWh. BMW has equipped it with the quad motors and the dynamic performance control unit that is managed by the new ‘Heart of Joy’ control unit.
Additionally, the brand said it has no production plans for the M Concept Neue Klasse, but the automotive enthusiasts believe it to be the upcoming M3 electric sports car.
