Spied: Mahindra Vision S to get a two-spoke steering wheel

Key highlights

  • Interior of the Mahindra Vision S spied
  • To get a two-spoke steering wheel similar to the XEV 9E
  • Vertically positioned AC vents, new digital console

As Mahindra is nearing the reveal timeline of the Vision S SUV, more and more sightings of its test mules have started to appear. One such latest sighting has revealed the fresh interior details of the Vision S, including the new two-spoke steering wheel, which has been carried from the current modern lineup like the BE 6. Even the branding on the steering wheel says BE.

Meanwhile, the dashboard boasts a similar design that we saw on the concept model. The unique silver-finished vertical AC vents on the dashboard are complemented by the gloss piano black highlights and a big infotainment console, which we suspect is a 12.3-inch unit taken from the Mahindra Thar Roxx.

The latest spy images have also covered the exterior details, which we have been seeing for a long time now. The camouflaged test car hides the muscular boxy design that gets the Defender-like styling elements, including the oval LED headlights, vertical grille with “teeth-like” design, protruding outside rear view mirrors, flared wheel arches, a rugged body cladding, and a tailgate-mounted spare tyre with vertical LED taillights.

What to expect from the Mahindra Vision S?

Mahindra Vision S Interiors Spied

Vision S will be based on the NU_IQ platform, which has been designed to accommodate hybrid, ICE, and EV powertrains. Therefore, assuming that it will get hybrid and EV iterations in the near future is not wrong. Initially, Mahindra is likely to equip it with a 1.2-litre TGDI turbo petrol sourced from the XUV 3XO, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine.

The equipment list will also be long on the Vision S. We can spot the radar module, which clarifies the presence of ADAS. Meanwhile, the dashboard physical control buttons get the 360-degree camera, traction modes, hill-descent and hill-hold control, and more options.

Mahindra is expected to debut the Vision S earlier next year. It could hit the roads by the end of the first quarter next year. The most important question is how Mahindra will position it. Reports state that it will be positioned between the Bolero Neo and the Scorpio range. Moreover, it could be badged as Scorpio Sport when launched.

Speaking of its rivals, Renault Bridger is scheduled to launch next year, and it will also bear a similar boxy design, the same price bracket, and similar engine capacity and powertrain options.
