Hyundai’s Boulder concept SUV raised the eyebrows of car enthusiasts globally when it was revealed a few months ago. Now, the brand has patented its design in India, which recently got leaked online. While there is no official confirmation whether the Boulder SUV will be launched in India or not, a design patent definitely hints at an interesting future for the brand’s expansion in India.
Hyundai Boulder: What to expect?
The design patent image shows the same concept car that was unveiled a while ago. It features a boxy design silhouette with futuristic design elements like the squared-off flared fenders and body cladding, off-road tyres with all-terrain rubber, and vertically stacked sharp LED headlights with a blanked-off grille.
The design patent image also shows the protruding rear-view mirrors, a luggage rack mounted on the roof, and a silver bash plate on the front bumper. While the rear design is not shown in the patent image, we believe it is the same vehicle that was shown as a concept car. The rear design of the concept had a unique tailgate that opened both sides, and it had a mounted spare tyre as well.
As per the details, the Boulder SUV concept used a ladder-frame chassis with a 4WD drivetrain. Hyundai had earlier revealed that the Boulder SUV will be launched in the future, and it is has been specifically designed for the competitive segments, including the likes of the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
Powertrain details are unknown, but we believe that the production-spec Boulder could use a turbocharged diesel and petrol engine with hybrid technology. As of now, Hyundai has not disclosed the reveal timeline of the production-spec Boulder SUV. Online speculations hint that it could be launched around late 2027 in the global market.
