Key highlights
- JLR India offers assured future value of up to 55% of the ex-showroom price
- The scheme covers select Range Rover, Defender and Discovery models
- Customers also get access to flexible financing options under the programme
JLR India has launched a new Assured Buyback Programme for select models. The programme guarantees customers a predetermined future value of up to 55% of the vehicle’s original ex-showroom price. The initiative has been introduced across participating authorised JLR retailers in India and is aimed at making ownership costs a little easier to predict.
Which JLR models are covered?
The buyback scheme isn’t available across the entire JLR portfolio. It is being offered on select Range Rover, Defender and Discovery models.
The guaranteed value will depend on the specific model and the terms agreed with the retailer. Mileage limits and the ownership period will also play a role, so that headline figure of 55% isn’t something every customer can simply assume they will get.
How does the assured buyback work?
At the time of purchase, eligible customers get a pre-determined future value for their vehicle. At the end of the agreed ownership period, JLR or the participating retailer will buy the vehicle back at the applicable assured value, subject to the programme’s conditions.
This gives buyers a clearer idea of what their SUV could be worth down the road instead of leaving them to discover the resale value when they are ready to upgrade.
The scheme is also being offered alongside tailored financing solutions, allowing customers to choose more flexible payment structures depending on the model and retailer.
Why JLR is doing this
Depreciation is one of those rather unpleasant realities of luxury-car ownership. You may spend several crores on a Range Rover and enjoy every minute of it, but the moment you start thinking about selling it, the resale market gets considerably less glamorous.
An assured buyback programme changes that equation by giving customers greater visibility over the vehicle’s future value from the beginning. It can also make upgrading to another JLR model easier when the ownership period ends.
For JLR, there is another obvious benefit. A structured buyback programme can encourage customers to stay within the brand when it is time for their next vehicle rather than having to worry about selling their existing SUV independently.
The programme is available through participating authorised JLR retailers across India.
