Tesla has officially commenced the test drives of the Model Y Premium RWD in India. The new EV is now available for a thorough driving experience at the company’s experience centres in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram, and New Delhi.
Priced at Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the Model Y Premium RWD was introduced in India last year in May. However, the American EV maker has not found great success in the Indian market despite good brand value. The brand had also dropped the price of the Model Y a few weeks ago to make it more accessible and relevant among the competition that includes models like the BYD Atto 3.
Speaking of the details, the Model Y Premium RWD features a sleek crossover design with a sloping roofline, minimal elements, sharp LED lights, flush door handles, and dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels. On the inside, it comes with a big 16-inch portrait-style infotainment screen that controls every function of the vehicle, including the entertainment, climate control, and more.
Other key features of the Model Y Premium RWD include a full-size panoramic sunroof, LED ambient lighting, an 8-inch touchscreen rear climate control panel, a 9-speaker premium audio system, frequency-selective dampers, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, electrically adjustable air conditioning vents, and more.
Powering the Model Y Premium RWD is a 60-64 kWh battery pack that is paired with a rear-wheel drive electric motor, offering a WLTP-claimed range of up to 500 km. The electric crossover can sprint 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and it supports up to 175 kW DC charging that can juice it with 238 km of range in 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, Tesla has also rolled out the Grok AI OTA update for the existing Tesla car owners in India. Grok AI is company’s in-house developed AI assistant, which supports multiple regional languages like Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, etc.
