If you are up for a low-budget off-road motorcycle, Hero MotoCorp might launch something new for you soon. The latest leaked design patent of a suspected off-road variant of the Splendour has surfaced online. The design patent images showcase a unique version that features rugged hardware and off-road-centric elements.
Hero Splendor off-road version coming soon?
A closer look at the design patent images shows a radically designed Splendor model. While the standard motorcycle is an iconic commuter and has a simple and old-school design, this version is essentially based on the standard model, but it gets certain upgrades and design changes that make it look prepared to tackle the dirt roads.
Speaking of the changes, the overall silhouette of the bike is retained, but it gets a new handlebar that looks more upright and bigger. Moreover, it gets the knuckle guards that are typical on dual-purpose, off-road-centric models, something which we see on the Bajaj CT 110X, which could be its rival if this specific Splendor variant gets launched.
Moving on, the front design has not been revealed completely, but we can clearly see a front beak like an ADV bike. Additionally, it gets a long-travel telescopic front suspension with a fork gaiter kit. The front mudguard has been cut short from the front like an ADV bike/
Unlike the ADVs, this version has the same 17-inch alloy wheels, which means that the seat height and the overall stance are unlikely to be changed. However, the rear section features a new taillight with a big tail carrier and side pannier frames, which hint at a utility-friendly design that is usually seen on aftermarket mods on rural bikes for luggage ferrying.
The hardware elements like the drum brakes on both ends, a kick-starter, and a single seat all hint at an affordable, rugged commuter motorcycle. Since there are no technical details available, we can assume that this will use the 97.2cc air-cooled engine carried over from the standard Splendor. With that said, there is no official information available about this model, and it could be a possibility that Hero has patented its design to keep its trademark future-proof.
