Kia is all set to launch the new three-row Sorento SUV in India. Ahead of its official price unveiling, its variant details have leaked online. The Sorento will be offered in six- and seven-seater layouts, and it will rival the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron.
2026 Kia Sorento: What do we know so far?
The new leaked details of the Sorento SUV show that it will be available in seven variants or trims: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK(A), HTX, HTX(A), and Black Line. These variants will offer six- and seven-seat configurations, along with the FWD and AWD drivetrains.
The lower variants like the HTE, HTE(O), HTK, and KTK(A) are offered in a seven-seater configuration, along with front-wheel drive as standard. As we move towards the higher end of the range, variants like the HTX, HTX(A), and Black Line get all-wheel drive and a six-seater configuration with captain seats.
Moving on to the powertrains, the Sorento will be offered with a 2.2-litre turbo diesel sourced from the Kia Carnival. This engine offers 202 PS and 440 Nm, and it is paired with an 8-speed DCT gearbox. Meanwhile, the Sorento will also get a new 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine with hybrid technology, which is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The latter will be Kia’s first-ever hybrid engine in India. This engine generates 240 PS and 380 Nm. Kia is likely to launch this new hybrid powertrain for the Carnival in the coming weeks.
The latest leaked details also reveal that the new Sorento will feature a wide range of exterior colours. The brochure details show the following colours on offer: Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Red, Pewter Olive, Ivory Silver Gloss, Aurora Black Pearl, and Matte Graphite. We believe that the Matte Graphite colour will be exclusive to the Black Line variant.
The Sorento SUV will be launched on September 4, 2026, in India. Its price is going to be a crucial factor in its performance in the Indian market. If Kia can position it below Rs 35 lakh, it will make a strong case against competitors and SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner.
