Tata Motors is working on the next generation of the Nexon compact SUV. Its first test mule was spotted a few days ago, and now another test car has been spotted closely in a parking lot. The interesting bit of the new spy images is the interior snapshot, which reveals the new design changes of the 2027 Nexon.
2027 Tata Nexon: What to expect?
The recently spotted test car of the upcoming Nexon is currently in the initial stage of development. The car seen in the spy shots has been covered completely to hide the new design changes.
Talking of the interesting bit first, the interior image shows that the new Nexon will get a redesigned dashboard. Although this is a test unit, it is fitted with the cycle parts like the four-spoke steering wheel, a central infotainment screen from the current model, and an unfinished centre console without any trim parts.
These cycle parts are carried over from the current Tata cars, and we believe that the production-spec model will be largely different from the current one. While the interior is half-baked, we can see a lot of wires and testing equipment, which Tata engineers are working on to improve the cabin experience of the new Nexon.
Other bits include an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, physical AC control knobs placed below the infotainment screen, and a manual gearshift lever. Meanwhile, the exterior is camouflaged, but we can spot the new roofline with a raised rear quarter. The redesigned rear quarter will offer more headroom for the rear passengers and probably offer more boot space as well.
Mechanically, Tata could offer revised versions of the petrol, CNG, and diesel engines that are offered on the current model. Additionally, the new-gen Nexon will also feature a number of new features and technology, including an improved ADAS safety suite, a new UI for infotainment, HUD, new cabin materials and trims, etc.
The brand has kept quiet regarding the launch of the new-gen Nexon. We suspect that it will be revealed by the end of 2027; maybe by the Diwali festive season next year.
