Earlier in May 2026, Harley-Davidson revealed a new motorcycle called ‘Sprint 440’. The American brand also revealed its first design sketches, while revealing this new product to be a part of its ‘Back to Bricks’ plan. Now, the first teaser of the production model has been released online, just days ahead of EICMA 2026, where this new motorcycle is likely to be introduced.
Based on the X440, but more of a ‘real’ Harley
The Sprint 440 will be based on the X440 roadster. However, with the Sprint 440, the company is likely to take on the more ‘cult’ design buyers who love the low-slung and laid-back design of the bigger Harleys. This is evident in the teaser images too, as the side profile shows a stretched-out version with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a scooped rider seat, front-set footpegs, and a swept-back handle.
Moreover, the side profile teaser image shows the cut-out rear fender and fat tyres with spoked rims, something that will make it more ‘aligned’ with the bigger Harleys. The Sprint 440 will also feature retro-inspired design cues like a circular headlight, a single-pod instrument cluster, and retro colourways.
Since the Sprint 440 will be based on the X440, it will be powered by the same 440cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that makes 27 bhp and 38 Nm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch. We believe that this engine will be re-tuned for improved low-end and mid-range torque delivery, so that riders can associate with the bigger Harley bike riding feel.
Moreover, the Sprint 440 will get the necessary tweaks like the redesigned sub-frame and the new suspension setup to accommodate the design changes.
To be made in India and exported globally
The new Sprint 440 will be manufactured at Hero MotoCorp’s production facility in India. However, it will be sold in the bigger international markets like Europe and the US, and all global units will be exported from India. This will mark a big feat for the joint venture between Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson.
The Sprint 440 is likely to be revealed at the EICMA 2026, and it could be introduced in India by the first quarter of 2027. It will be positioned above the X440 in terms of pricing.
