Bajaj Auto to restructure KTM internationally

As per the latest online reports, Bajaj has been given a green flag by the Austrian Takeover Commission to begin the restructuring of KTM worldwide. However, the new rights are limited only to the restructuring part.

The latest permission grants Bajaj-owned Netherlands-based facility to operate completely on its own, by not requiring the stakeholders’ permissions to assume complete control.

Earlier this year, Bajaj invested a massive sum of Rs 5,445 crore to save KTM from bankruptcy. Bajaj took a massive loan to support the brand and pay its remaining dues to the employees and the vendors, so that the brand could sustain globally.

This shows that Bajaj has an internal commitment to KTM, as both major bike manufacturers have been in an alliance since 2007.

So, what does it mean? The first thing that is likely to happen is the introduction of new bikes. We have already seen test mules of a mid-capacity parallel-twin engine, which is likely to be launched by the first half of next year.

As Bajaj has faith in Indian customers, it will bring the new bikes to India immediately after the global debut. More details are likely to surface when KTM shows its upcoming projects and models at the EICMA next week.
