Ducati DesertX V2 bookings open in India ahead of launch

Key highlights

  • Bookings for the second-generation Ducati DesertX V2 are now open in India
  • New 890 cc V2 engine produces 110.3 hp and 92 Nm
  • Gets an aluminium monocoque frame and revised underpinnings; India price yet to be announced

Ducati India has opened bookings for the new-generation DesertX V2, ahead of its official launch in the country. The announcement was made through the company’s social media channels, following the motorcycle’s global debut at EICMA 2026.

While Ducati is yet to announce the India launch date or pricing, the new adventure motorcycle is expected to reach showrooms in the coming weeks. The updated DesertX is a substantial mechanical upgrade over its predecessor, with a new engine, revised chassis and changes aimed at improving its off-road capabilities.

Powertrain

The biggest change is the introduction of Ducati’s new 890 cc, 90-degree V2 engine, replacing the older 937 cc Testastretta motor. The new engine produces 110.3 hp at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Ducati has focused on improving mid-range performance, which should be particularly useful when riding on loose surfaces and technical trails. The new engine is also 5.4kg lighter than its predecessor, contributing to the motorcycle’s revised weight distribution and overall package.

New chassis and revised hardware

The DesertX V2 gets an aluminium monocoque frame, with the engine serving as a stressed member. It retains long-travel suspension with an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock, while the overall chassis setup has been revised for improved off-road control.

The motorcycle also gets a comprehensive electronics package, including multiple riding and power modes, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control and cruise control. A 5-inch TFT display handles instrumentation and rider information.

DesertX Rally also gets the V2 treatment

The new-generation DesertX is also available internationally in a more off-road-focused Rally version. This variant gets fully adjustable KYB suspension with a 48mm front fork, increased wheel travel and Excel Takasago centre-spoke tubeless wheels. It is aimed at riders who intend to take the motorcycle onto more demanding trails.
