Hyundai India targets 1 million connected car sales by 2027

Key highlights

  • Hyundai has crossed 0.8 million cumulative connected car sales in India
  • Company targets 1 million connected cars by 2027 and 2 million by 2030
  • Connected-car penetration has risen from 4% in 2019 to 20% in 2026

Hyundai Motor India is betting that the next big shift in car ownership will happen through software. The company has crossed 0.8 million connected car sales in India and is now targeting the 1 million mark by 2027.

Hyundai says connected-car adoption across its portfolio has steadily increased since the introduction of Hyundai Bluelink in 2019. Penetration has now reached 20 percent, up from just 4 percent when the technology was first introduced.

The company has set an even bigger target for later in the decade. Hyundai wants to cross 2 million cumulative connected car sales by 2030.

Bluelink does more than track your car

Hyundai Bluelink currently offers more than 70 connected features covering safety, security and convenience. These include remote vehicle monitoring, vehicle health diagnostics, location tracking, trip history and remote commands. Customers can also access features such as Hyundai Pay, Digital Key, Digital Passport and Remote Immobilizer. The system also supports more than 450 AI-powered voice commands across five languages.

The company says Bluelink has already assisted more than 0.5 million motorists through SOS and roadside assistance services. It has also supported around 15,000 crash notification interventions and helped law-enforcement agencies with vehicle tracing and recovery.

Hyundai is moving towards software-defined cars

Hyundai’s larger plan is to turn its cars into products that can evolve through software. The company calls this its Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) roadmap.

The journey began with the Venue in 2019, which Hyundai describes as India’s first OEM-fitted connected SUV. It followed this with OTA map updates on the i20 in 2020 and next-generation AVNT technology in 2022.

In 2025, Hyundai introduced its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with controller OTA update capability. The system allows vehicles to receive software enhancements without requiring traditional hardware changes.

The next major step will come with Hyundai’s upcoming mass-market electric SUV. The company says next-generation connected-car technology will be offered as standard across all variants.
