MLFF barrier-less toll plaza in Gujarat: Details
The newly inaugurated Multi-Lane Free Flow toll plaza in Gujarat is the first of its kind toll plaza in India. Following the trail of advancement, NHAI has installed it on the National Highway 48, between the Surat-Baruch section.
This toll plaza does not require the vehicles to stop. It uses a dense system of sensors, cameras, and radars that work together to detect the vehicle number plate and its FASTag account. The sensors will then automatically deduct the amount from the FASTag of the vehicle.
In case a vehicle does not have a balance in the FASTag, the owner will be notified to pay the toll fees within the next three days. If the owner fails to do so, he/she will have to face a hefty fine of up to thrice the amount of the toll fees.
With that said, the feedback received from this toll plaza will be used further to setup more MLFF tolls in the country, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said.
