Maruti’s second electric car has been caught testing on Indian roads. The test mule is heavily camouflaged, but what is visible is enough to piece together the picture.
The vehicle was spotted alongside a camouflaged Brezza facelift test mule on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. The two were running together, which suggests Maruti was testing multiple upcoming products at the same time.
What the spy shots tell us
The test mule is large. It has a tall, upright roofline and longer rear overhangs. Both of these point strongly toward a three-row MPV body style. The silhouette is noticeably different from the eVitara, which is a conventional SUV shape.
At the front, the design appears to be inspired by the Victoris ICE SUV. The DRL signature looks similar. The upper grille is small and closed off. No exhaust is visible at the rear, which is the clearest indicator that this is an electric vehicle.
The wheels appear to be the same 18-inch units seen on the eVitara. A rear parcel tray is also visible, which suggests this particular unit could be a 5-seater variant. A 7-seater version is also expected.
What we know about the YMC
The YMC is Maruti’s first all-electric MPV. It sits on the same Heartect-e platform that underpins the eVitara. Toyota is also expected to get a version of this MPV.
Battery options are expected to mirror the eVitara: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh pack. Range should be in the 500 to 550 km bracket. The YMC will sit above the Ertiga and XL6 in Maruti’s lineup.
Launch and Price
No official confirmation from Maruti yet. A launch in late 2026 or early 2027 is most likely. Expected pricing falls between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). At that price, it would be one of the most affordable electric MPVs in India.
