JSW Motors’ upcoming lifestyle SUV, widely expected to be called the Combat, has been spotted testing alongside a Mahindra Thar Roxx. The side-by-side sighting gives a better idea of the upcoming SUV’s proportions and road presence ahead of its expected festive-season launch. The Combat name, however, has not been officially confirmed.
JSW Combat looks wider and longer than Thar Roxx
Both SUVs follow a similar boxy, upright design theme, with pronounced wheel arches and rear-mounted spare wheels. However, the Combat takes a more angular approach.
The test mule features a broad, flat bonnet and rectangular headlamp housings, while the Thar Roxx gets its familiar circular headlights. At the rear, the Combat appears to feature vertically stacked tail-lamps and an enclosed spare-wheel cover.
The overseas Jetour T2, which forms the basis for the JSW SUV, measures 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,870 mm tall. For reference, the Thar Roxx is 4,428 mm long and 1,870 mm wide. Interestingly, the Mahindra has a slightly longer 2,850 mm wheelbase, compared with the T2’s 2,800 mm. Indian-spec dimensions could differ.
Plug-in hybrid powertrain expected
The Combat is expected to use the Jetour T2’s i-DM plug-in hybrid architecture. The global system combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with two electric motors and an 18.4kWh battery.
Global T2 specifications quote around 360hp and 610Nm, along with an electric-only range of approximately 90km. However, these figures are based on the overseas model and should not be treated as confirmed India-spec specifications.
Another interesting detail visible on the test vehicle is a “Caution: Auto Brake, Keep Safe Distance” warning on the spare-wheel cover, suggesting that automatic braking technology is being evaluated. The global T2 also offers a range of driver-assistance and camera-based technologies.
Expected launch and pricing
The Combat is expected to be locally assembled at JSW Motors’ facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, with a launch expected before Diwali 2026. Prices are currently expected to be around the ₹30 lakh range, although the final positioning and specifications will be revealed closer to launch.
