Key highlights

  • Kawasaki Z300 launched in India
  • Based on the Ninja 300 powertrain
  • Offers basic features like an LCD console

Kawasaki has launched the new Z300 in India at a price tag of Rs 3.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The Z300 is now the entry-point in the ‘Z’ series model range of naked sports bikes of the brand in India.

As the name suggests, the Z300 is based heavily on the Ninja 300, and it uses a lot of cycle parts from its fully faired sibling to keep the costs in check. The design of the Z300 takes inspiration from the Kawasaki’s Sugomi design language that is also seen on the other Z models like the Z900.

The new Z300 is equipped with a dual-pod LED headlight, an upright riding stance, split seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a two-in-one exhaust system with a silver protection plate. In terms of features, the Z300 gets a basic LCD instrument console that offers information like the speedometer, tachometer, fuel economy, etc.

Powering the Z300 is the same 296cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that is used on the Ninja 300. This engine develops 39.4 bhp and 26.3 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The Z300 gets a slipper clutch and a dual-channel ABS as standard.

Speaking of the hardware, the Z300 features a 37 mm front upside-down fork suspension and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock suspension. The braking duties are covered by a 290 mm front petal disc brake and a 220 mm rear petal disc brake.

Does the Kawasaki Z300 make sense?

The Z300 packs a reliable and proven mechanical setup, especially the engine. It offers refined performance with the typical Japanese no-nonsense build quality. However, considering the features it offers and the price tag, the Z300 is significantly pricier than the 2026 KTM 390 Duke, which is Rs 38,664 cheaper than it. Moreover, the KTM 390 Duke offers a whole suite of modern electronics and features, which Z300 potential customers will be attracted towards.
