The wait is finally over for Kia lovers. The Korean carmaker has officially commenced the pre-bookings for its first-ever hybrid model, i.e. the Sorento Hybrid SUV. Kia Sorento Hybrid SUV: Everything to know before booking it
The Sorento is a crossover-SUV that has been popular in the international market for years due to its practicality for family use and a smooth driving experience. Kia will soon launch the latest iteration of the Sorento in India, and it will be available in its most efficient hybrid powertrain.
As per online reports, the Sorento Hybrid will offer a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which will be paired to an electric motor, producing around 235 bhp and 380 Nm of peak power and torque. International customers report mileage upwards of 18 km/l in mixed driving conditions, while they get an all-wheel drive option. The latter is unlikely to be offered in India, as it will most probably be a front-wheel drive.
Speaking of its exterior design, the Sorento Hybrid SUV features a bold and upright stance with the brand’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ design. The front fascia gets vertical LED headlights, a big grille, and a sculpted bumper, while the side profile offers a crossover outlook with flush door handles and dual-tone alloys. The rear profile gets the twin vertical LED taillights connected via an LED lightbar and a sporty bumper.
On the inside, the Sorento Hybrid packs a spacious and comfortable cabin layout with five- and seven-seater options. The complete cabin gets leather treatment, and features like the triple connected screen display, a three-spoke steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, LED ambient lighting, electric tailgate, Level 2 ADAS, wireless charging, electric seats with memory function, and more.
Kia is expected to launch the Sorento Hybrid around Rs 35-40 lakh. While it is not a direct rival of the Toyota Fortuner, the Sorento Hybrid will definitely offer a strong competition to all the SUVs under Rs 50 lakh in India.
