What to expect from the upcoming KTM 350cc bikes?

Triumph recently introduced its new 350cc engine, which is essentially a downsized version of the existing 399cc liquid-cooled motor. The reason behind downsizing was to achieve the GST 2.0 tax benefits, which impose 40% GST on bikes above 350cc.

Following the same path, KTM is also going to launch its new 350cc range of bikes. These are likely to include the Duke and Adventure models. The new 349.16cc engine has been made by downsizing the 399cc engine, which has been achieved by reducing the stroke to 56.1 mm from 64 mm. As a result, the new engine is reported to offer around 40 PS and 32-33 Nm of peak power and torque.

We believe that the same power and torque figures will fuel the new Duke and ADV 350cc models. However, to keep the KTM’s aggressive character, the engine tuning is likely to be different from the Triumph’s 350cc engine, while both engines are essentially the same.

The official debut of the new 350cc range is reported to take place sometime later this month. With the reduced engine capacity, KTM is likely to drop the price of the Duke and ADV models below Rs 3 lakh, thus making them more value-for-money.
