The Land Rover Defender 110 has become significantly more affordable in India, with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) commencing local assembly of the SUV through the completely knocked down (CKD) route. The move brings prices down by up to Rs 34 lakh, while some features that were previously optional are now included as standard equipment.
The Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE is being assembled in India with a choice of 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 3.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel engines. The price reduction makes the entry-level petrol version available for less than Rs 1 crore, while the larger-engine variants also see a substantial cut.

More features at no extra cost
The price reduction is not the only change. The locally assembled 2.0-litre petrol version now includes equipment worth up to Rs 6.5 lakh that was previously optional on the imported SUV.
This includes electronic air suspension with Adaptive Dynamics, adaptive off-road cruise control, three-zone climate control, cabin air purification and a ClearSight interior rear-view mirror. Buyers also get 14-way electrically adjustable front seats with heating, cooling and memory functions, manual third-row seats and a refrigerator compartment in the front centre console.
The 3.0-litre petrol and diesel versions also gain additional standard equipment, including an electronic active differential with torque vectoring, configurable Terrain Response, a head-up display, Meridian surround-sound system and climate-controlled rear seats. The additional equipment was previously worth up to Rs 17 lakh, according to reports.
