- 2027 Nissan Terrano spied closely
- Exterior design is almost similar to the concept version
- It will launch in China early next year
Nissan showcased a new Terrano concept SUV earlier this year in April at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. Fast-forwarding, a production prototype test mule has been spied based on the concept version, revealing its final design and dimension details.
Surprisingly, the spotted test car looks almost identical to the concept version, save for a few toned-down design details. The SUV is enormous in size, and it packs a typical boxy silhouette seen on rugged SUVs worldwide.
The fascia features the same LED projector headlights with rectangular LED DRLs as the concept. Additionally, the unique front grille with three horizontal slats and Nissan lettering is also carried forward from the concept model.
However, if you look closely, you can spot the redesigned bumper with black cladding and fog lights positioned on the lower end. The side profile of the production-spec model has more ‘sober’ alloy wheels with HT tyres, black body cladding, a large glass area, and conventional door handles.
Similarly, the rear design is also identical to the concept version, as it gets the vertical LED taillights, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel with a swivel locking mechanism, and a vertically positioned door handle.
The overall stance of the Terrano test mule is upright and bold. It looks like it will compete with the newly launched 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero in the global market after launch, as its dimensions and size look similar to the new Pajero.
A close glimpse of the interior shows that the Terrano will offer a commanding seating position with a dual-tone cabin draped with soft-touch leather upholstery. The test car has a four-spoke steering wheel, a digital driver console, a floating infotainment screen in the centre, a central console with a short-shift gearshift lever, a rotary dial for off-road and traction modes, an electronic parking brake switch, a central armrest, and silver-finished speakers on the door cards.
As per the online reports, the Terrano is a joint venture product between Nissan and Dongfeng. It will be a ladder-frame SUV, whose chassis and design have been made by Nissan, the powertrain and drivetrain have been made by Dongfeng, and the petrol engine has been made by Mitsubishi.
It will be initially launched in China by early 2027, but Nissan had previously announced that it will launch the Terrano in the Middle East and other emerging markets like Australia.
