5 lakh Maruti Suzuki Fronx cars sold: Why is it popular?
Achieving 5 lakh sales within 3 years of debut is a big feat for any car. Maruti’s Fronx has become the first Nexa, a premium sub-brand, model to achieve this sales figure. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki exported 1.75 lakh Fronx cars internationally, which makes us think, what makes it so popular?
As per an Indian buyer, the Fronx has everything required in a modern, good-looking car. First, it has a strong road presence due to its striking design. Second, it has a decent interior layout, modern features, and enough space for small families. And most importantly, it is available in petrol and CNG engine options with manual and automatic gearbox choices, which makes it a popular choice for first-time car buyers.
It is powered by the same engine specs as the Baleno, but the suspension, steering, and ride quality tuning have been done differently, which makes it feel more plush to drive and sit inside. From a buyer’s perspective, Fronx ticks all the right boxes within a budget of Rs 10 lakh.
On the other hand, the global market is also loving the Fronx. While this car was initially made for the Indian consumers, Maruti did make sure to tune it as per the global markets. Hence, it is offered with various combinations, like an all-wheel drive configuration, a bigger 1.5-litre K15C engine, and more.
Not to mention, Maruti offers a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine on the Fronx, which makes it the only Maruti car with a turbo engine on sale currently. This engine offers a strong performance and good mileage on the highways.
Speaking of the numbers, Maruti sold 1 lakh units of the Fronx in its first six months of the debut. It is also the top-selling Nexa model of the FY2027 so far. In 2025, Maruti sold 1.72 lakh units alone, which marked the highest-ever sales figure for the Fronx in India.
