- Maruti Y43 SUV to rival the Tata Punch
- Leaked through Maruti’s Kharkhoda facility’s official photos
- It is likely to be launched early next year
What you are looking at here are the official photos of Maruti’s Kharkhoda-based second production facility that became operational earlier this year. While these photos are not new, a keen eye and a closer look at these photos show an unrecognisable small SUV, which is rumoured to be the upcoming Tata Punch rival.
This SUV is internally codenamed Y43, and it is expected to be revealed by the end of this year or early next year in India. While it is questionable whether these photos are of a production-spec model or test units, we firmly believe that these could be the select prototypes that are under development, and the new production facility is being used to fit and test the new parts.
Moreover, multiple photos reveal that this car is parked along the new 2026 Brezza facelift and the Victoris, while its silhouette is not identical to any of these. Moreover, it looks smaller in size, which further solidifies that it could be the Y43 prototype.
As far as the Y43 details are concerned, it is expected to be equipped with the 1.2-litre K12C engine sourced from Fronx and Blaeno. There could be a 1.0-litre Boosterjet version too, but we anticipate that it will only get offered on a top-spec version.
The design silhouette suggests that it will retain the conventional SUV look with a boxy styling. This could also mean that the interior space will be a priority with the Y43. We also believe that Maruti will focus on the list of features, which could include the likes of the ventilated seats, wireless charging, sunroof, LED lights, and more.
More details about the Y43 SUV are likely to surface in the coming weeks.
