Mahindra’s upcoming BE 7 electric SUV has been spotted testing again, and this time the spy shots reveal something rather interesting. Two test mules were seen together, giving us a closer look at the SUV’s exterior as well as its cabin.
The BE 7 will sit alongside the BE 6 as part of Mahindra’s dedicated electric SUV range. It was previewed by the BE 07 concept, and the production version appears to be staying fairly close to that design.
Concept-inspired design
The test cars are still heavily camouflaged, so some design details remain under wraps. However, the overall silhouette is clearly visible. The BE 7 gets a wide and angular body, sharp lines and a fairly aggressive stance.
Other visible details include flush door handles, thick C-pillars, wide rear haunches, geometric wheel-arch cladding and roof rails. The test cars also appear to use wheels similar in design to those seen on the XEV 9e.
Three screens inside
The BE 7 will get Mahindra’s triple-screen dashboard, with three 12.3-inch displays placed next to each other. Unlike some other Mahindra EVs, there is no physical separation between the driver’s and front passenger’s screens.
The cabin appears to have very few physical controls. Even the centre console is expected to rely heavily on touch controls for functions such as the air-conditioning and media system.
The steering wheel looks similar to the one used in Mahindra’s existing electric SUVs, suggesting that steering-mounted touch controls could also make it into the BE 7.
Features such as ADAS, Harman audio, self-parking and Mahindra’s Adrenox interface are also expected, although the complete equipment list has not been confirmed yet.
Expected battery and range
Mahindra is expected to offer the BE 7 with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs. Both could be paired with a rear-mounted electric motor, with 500 km-plus of real-world range being targeted.
The test vehicles still appear to be some distance from production, with temporary rear lighting visible on the prototypes. That means Mahindra could still make changes before the BE 7 reaches showrooms.
