Key highlights
- McLaren has revealed the new 788HS limited-edition supercar
- Production is capped at just 200 units worldwide
- Available in both Coupe and Spider body styles
McLaren Automotive has taken the wraps off the 788HS, a new limited-run supercar that marks the final chapter in the lineage that began with the iconic 720S.
Limited to just 200 examples globally, the 788HS builds on the 750S with more power, sharper aerodynamics, revised suspension and several exclusive design elements. It also becomes only the third McLaren to carry the coveted ‘HS’ (High Sport) badge.
Sharper design with improved aerodynamics
While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the 788HS receives several changes aimed at improving airflow and high-speed stability.
Key exterior highlights include:
- New multi-piece carbon-fibre front splitter
- Bonnet with integrated S-Duct
- Larger front air intakes
- Redesigned active rear spoiler
- Larger rear diffuser inspired by Formula 1
- New forged alloy wheels
- Quad-exit titanium exhaust
McLaren claims the revised aerodynamic package produces 10 percent more downforce than the already track-focused 765LT.
The Coupe version also gets a gloss black roof scoop, while buyers can opt for an exposed carbon-fibre body finished in either gloss or satin.
More power from the twin-turbo V8
Power comes from an upgraded version of McLaren’s familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8.

Lighter and more focused
The 788HS has a dry weight of just 1,265 kg, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 623 hp per tonne, the highest among the 720S, 765LT and 750S family.
McLaren has also made several chassis upgrades, including:
- Suspension lowered by 5 mm
- Revised suspension tuning
- Forged centre-lock wheels
- Carbon-ceramic brakes derived from the McLaren Senna
- Six-piston forged aluminium front brake calipers
The result is expected to be an even sharper driving experience, both on the road and the track.
Driver-focused cabin
Inside, the 788HS retains the familiar cockpit layout of the 750S but adds several exclusive touches.
Notable features include:
- Carbon-fibre centre console
- Unique HS badging
- Individual numbered plaque
- Bespoke upholstery
- Digital instrument cluster
- Steering wheel-mounted drive mode controls
- McLaren Infotainment System II
- McLaren Control Launcher for saving preferred vehicle settings
Limited to just 200 units
McLaren will produce only 200 examples of the 788HS, with production split equally between 100 Coupe and 100 Spider models.
That makes it one of the rarest road-going McLarens to wear the High Sport badge.
