The Kia Syros EV could get 520 km range. Here is everything that has leaked

Key Highlights

  • Leaked details suggest the Kia Syros EV will offer 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery options, with claimed ranges of 443 km and 520 km respectively.
  • A lifetime or 15-year battery warranty is being reported, alongside a standard 3-year vehicle warranty extendable to 7 years or 1.6 lakh km.
  • Kia India is expected to unveil the Syros EV in the last week of July 2026, with a launch in August.

The Kia Syros EV is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated EV launches of the year.  Kia India has not officially confirmed any specifications yet. The unveil is expected in the last week of July, with a market launch in August 2026.

520 km range

According to multiple reports, the Syros EV will be offered with two battery options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. These are the same packs used in the Kia Carens Clavis EV. What is interesting is that the Syros EV is expected to extract more range from those batteries than the Clavis does.

The reason is simple: the Syros is smaller and lighter. The Carens Clavis EV returns 404 km with the 42 kWh pack and 490 km with the 51.4 kWh pack. The Syros EV is expected to deliver 443 km and 520 km respectively from the same batteries.

If those numbers hold in production, the Syros EV will be the longest-range EV in its segment.

Lifetime battery warranty

Kia is reportedly planning to offer a 15-year or lifetime battery warranty on the Syros EV. Nothing like this exists in the Indian market currently. If confirmed, it would be a category-defining ownership assurance that directly addresses the single biggest concern Indian EV buyers have: battery longevity.

The standard vehicle warranty is expected to be 3 years, extendable to 7 years or 1,60,000 km. Kia is also expected to offer a Buy Back Assurance Scheme, guaranteeing a fixed resale value at the end of the ownership period, which directly addresses one of the biggest concerns around EV depreciation in India.

What to expect

The Syros EV will be based on the same platform as the ICE Syros. Styling changes will be EV-specific, a closed-off grille, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and a charging port on the left front fender. Inside, dual digital screens, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and Kia Connect are all expected.

DC fast charging up to 150 kW should get the battery from 10 to 80 percent in under 40 minutes.
