TVS Motor Company-owned Norton Motorcycles is soon going to commence the pre-bookings of its first motorcycle in India, which is the Atlas adventure bike. The upcoming middleweight dual-sport bike will be launched towards the end of this year in India.
Norton Atlas ADV: What do we know so far?
The Atlas adventure motorcycle was recently revealed to select media journalists in Europe. The exclusive test rides hinted that the launch of the Atlas ADV is nearing. Now, online reports hint that the brand will commence pre-bookings via its official website in India in the coming weeks.
While no timeline has been revealed, the reports solidify the fact that the Atlas ADV will be launched around the festive season later this year. The Atlas will be manufactured at the Hosur facility of TVS alongside the BMW F 450 GS, which also happens to be its rival.
However, unlike the BMW, the Norton will focus on highway touring and dual-sport capabilities with a bigger engine. It will be powered by a 585cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that is rated to produce 69 bhp and 58 Nm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, and it is reported online that this engine has been tuned to offer a punchy mid-range performance.
Since the Atlas will get features like dual-pod projector LED headlights, TFT console, a six-axis IMU, ride and traction modes, cruise control, etc, it will be positioned a bit on the premium side of the mid-weight performance bike segment in India. Online reports hint that it could be priced around Rs 5.50 lakh when launched.
With the Atlas, Norton will not only step into the Indian premium performance bike segment, but it will also expand in the future with more products. Norton will start inaugurating a fresh chain of premium showrooms in the coming months.
