Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6: What to expect?

The recently spotted Flying Flea C6 test bikes showcase that the development of RE’s first-ever EV is almost complete. All the test bikes look production-ready and boast a design largely similar to the concept model.

The Flying Flea takes its inspiration from the original WWII motorcycle, hence it has a slim, lightweight, and retro-looking body style, which is accentuated by high-quality materials like magnesium battery casing, brushed aluminium subframe, and more. Interestingly, the test motorcycles were seen with a centre stand, which further ensures everyday practicality.

Speaking of the specifications, it features multi-spoke alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, disc brakes on both ends, likely with a dual-channel ABS, girder front forks, and a monoshock at the rear. Moreover, the split seat design bears a floating-type pillion seat, giving it a distinctive look. The brake callipers are Bybre, which hints at in-house parts to keep the cost in check. The dummy teardrop-shaped fuel tank is draped in British Green colour, and it features a brushed aluminium casing.

Since RE targets to lure city commuters with this one, the Flying Flea C6 is likely to get a battery size of around 4-5kWh. This battery will be IP67-rated, and it is likely to offer a performance equivalent to a 250-350cc petrol motorcycle. Moreover, the real-world range is likely to be around 100-150km. Royal Enfield will also equip it with active thermal management and cell-level thermal monitoring for optimum battery and motor performance. The C6 will remain a mid-mounted motor setup and a chain-driven EV.

While it will retain its retro quotient, one of the highlights will be its feature-packed setup. The test bikes were seen with LED lights and a single-pod digital console sourced from the Himalayan 450. It is likely to offer electronics like traction modes, ride modes, braking regeneration modes, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless ignition, and more.

Speaking of the launch timeline, we suspect that the C6 model will be introduced later this year with a price of around Rs 2.5-3 lakh. Later, it will be followed by the Scrambler S6 model and the Him-E EVs.
