Royal Enfield has unveiled a special edition of the Shotgun 650 at EICMA 2026, called the Son of a Gun. Developed in collaboration with Australian custom motorcycle and lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina, this limited-run motorcycle celebrates the customisation culture that has been central to the Shotgun’s identity.
While the original Son of a Gun is a one-off custom creation, Royal Enfield will produce a limited run of 100 motorcycles inspired by it. These will be available globally in 2027, making it a particularly exclusive addition to the brand’s 650cc line-up.
Custom detailing
The biggest talking point is the motorcycle’s deep red, cream and gold colour scheme. The fuel tank gets flowing Royal Enfield and Deus Ex Machina collaboration graphics, while the side panels feature additional detailing.
The special edition also gets contrast-cut alloy wheels and piano-black engine covers, giving the familiar 650 Twin motor a darker appearance. A brown leather seat with subtle embroidered Deus branding and matching brown handlebar grips complete the custom treatment.
There is another exclusive addition for buyers. Each motorcycle will be accompanied by a limited-edition Royal Enfield x Deus souvenir jacket. Made from stone-washed sateen fabric, it features heritage-inspired typography and a custom inner lining that mirrors the motorcycle’s paint scheme.
Same mechanical package
Underneath the cosmetic changes, the Son of a Gun retains the familiar Shotgun 650 platform and its proven 648cc parallel-twin engine. The special edition is primarily about exclusive styling and detailing rather than mechanical upgrades.
Royal Enfield has not announced pricing or the exact markets in which the 100 motorcycles will be available. The company has, however, confirmed that production will begin as a limited global run in 2027.
