Key highlights
- Gets triple homologation under DOT, ECE 22.06 and Indian BIS standards
- Features a PC-ABS shell, Pinlock 30 anti-fog lens and integrated sun shield
- Priced from Rs 4,499, with three size options
Steelbird Hi-Tech India has launched the new FEC-3 motorcycle helmet in India, bringing together three safety certifications and a fairly comprehensive list of features at a starting price of Rs 4,499. The new offering is aimed at riders looking for more than just basic protection, with additions such as an integrated sun shield and a Pinlock 30 anti-fog lens.
The FEC-3’s biggest talking point is its triple homologation. It complies with the US DOT FMVSS No. 218 standard, the Indian BIS IS 4151:2015 standard and the European ECE 22.06 regulation. Its outer shell is made from a high-impact PC-ABS blend, which Steelbird says has been engineered to meet the requirements of DOT and ECE 22.06.
Pinlock visor and integrated sun shield
The helmet gets a polycarbonate main visor with an anti-scratch coating and a Pinlock 30 anti-fog lens. The latter should be particularly useful during rainy conditions and early-morning rides when visor fogging can affect visibility.
There is also an integrated inner sun shield, operated through a slider mechanism. This allows riders to adapt to changing light conditions without having to stop and replace the main visor.
Steelbird has equipped the FEC-3 with a Double D-Ring fastening system, along with a wind deflector and nose protector. Other additions include a visor locking system and a quick-release visor mechanism.
Three sizes on offer
The FEC-3 gets an aerodynamic profile with sporty graphics and an aggressive design. It will be available in three size options: Medium (580mm), Large (600mm) and XL (620mm).
At Rs 4,499, the FEC-3 brings together a useful combination of safety credentials and everyday convenience features. However, as with any helmet, the certification list and feature set are only part of the equation. Riders should pay particular attention to getting the correct size and fit before making a purchase.
