After being spotted and teased multiple times, Kia has finally commenced the pre-bookings of the Sorento Hybrid. However, this is still an unofficial commencement, as online reports hint, but the brand is yet to reveal the official booking date for the same.

Leaving aside the bookings, the Sorento Hybrid will not only become the first Kia hybrid car in India, but it will also become the first car in its segment to go on sale with a hybrid engine. However, technically the Honda ZR-V is the first car with a hybrid engine in this segment, but it is essentially a five-seater, and it will be sold in limited numbers only.

The Sorento Hybrid happens to be one of Kia’s most popular SUVs in Western markets. The three-row SUV is fondly known for its comfortable cabin, tech- and feature-loaded interior, and striking exterior design that gets the T-shaped LED lights, dual-tone alloys, retractable door handles, etc.

The Sorento Hybrid comes loaded with dual-tone leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, reclining rear seats, electric tailgate, a premium sound system, a triple-connected screen setup, AI-assisted voice commands, and Level 2 ADAS safety features.

In the global market, the Sorento SUV is sold with multiple engine options, including a 2.5-litre petrol, a 2.5-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. Its hybrid iteration comes loaded with a 1.6-litre hybrid engine that offers around 243-277 bhp (depending on the global market), and a mileage of around 14-19 km/l as per international user feedback.

We suspect that the new Sorento Hybrid SUV will be launched in India by next month. It could be priced around Rs 30-35 lakh, considering that it will be a full-size, three-row SUV.
