VinFast appears to be getting serious about electric two-wheelers in India. The Vietnamese manufacturer has filed a design patent for its Rasad electric maxi-scooter, adding another model to the growing list of VinFast two-wheelers that could eventually make it to our market.
The Rasad was unveiled globally earlier this year alongside the Sadie and Saxil as part of VinFast’s wider electric two-wheeler portfolio. It now joins the Viper scooter and Sulad-based electric motorcycle, both of which have also been patented in India in recent months.
A patent, however, does not automatically mean a launch is coming. But with multiple models now being registered here, VinFast certainly seems to be keeping its options open.
A sporty take on the maxi-scooter
The Rasad isn’t your typical upright city scooter. Its design is much more muscular, with a chunky front end, angular bodywork and a fairly aggressive stance.
The overall layout is closer to scooters such as the Yamaha Aerox and Honda ADV160, although VinFast has given the Rasad its own styling.
The patent images reveal chunky tyres, an underbone-style chassis, disc brakes at both ends and a tall windscreen. There is also a large stepped seat that should make the scooter suitable for longer rides.
Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
Performance
VinFast hasn’t officially revealed the Rasad’s specifications yet. However, reports from Vietnam suggest that the scooter could use a centrally mounted electric motor producing 7.1 kW of peak power.
If those figures hold, the Rasad could have a claimed top speed of around 100 kph, putting it firmly in performance-oriented electric scooter territory. The company is reportedly targeting a global launch in the fourth quarter of 2026. There is no word yet on the battery capacity, range or charging times.
India launch still not confirmed
VinFast had previously indicated that it planned to enter India’s electric two-wheeler market in 2026. At the time, the company had identified three models from its international portfolio as possible candidates.
