Key Highlights

- The car is available in both locally manufactured and CBU specifications.
- Â It comes in four colour options, including two new exclusives.
Range Rover has been selling the Sport in India for a while now, but the Autobiography specification is making its India debut with this launch, and it sits at the top of the Range Rover Sport range. Priced from Rs 1.59 crore, it is the most loaded, most refined version of the Sport you can buy in India right now.
Powertrains
Three engine options are available with the Range Rover Sport Autobiography in India, and the choice of engine determines whether you get a locally assembled car or a CBU import.
Land Rover assembles two versions locally. The P400 is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol producing 394 BHP and 550 Nm. The D350 is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel making 346 BHP and 700 Nm. That diesel torque figure is particularly noteworthy — 700 Nm gives the Sport a muscular, effortless pull that suits long-distance touring especially well. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard.
For those who want more, there is the 4.4-litre V8 petrol. This unit produces 523 BHP and 750 Nm, and it comes into India as a CBU. It is the engine for buyers who want the Sport to feel genuinely fast, not just adequately powerful.
| Engine | Output | Torque | Gearbox | Assembly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3.0L P400 Turbo Petrol | 394 BHP | 550 Nm | 8-speed Auto | Locally Manufactured |
| 3.0L D350 Diesel | 346 BHP | 700 Nm | 8-speed Auto | Locally Manufactured |
| 4.4L V8 Petrol | 523 BHP | 750 Nm | 8-speed Auto | CBU |
What the Autobiography adds
The chassis package on the Autobiography is where the engineering story gets interesting. The headline additions are the Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking, All Wheel Steering, Dynamic Air Suspension with Dynamic Response Pro, and Configurable Terrain Response Programs. These are not just spec sheet entries. Together, they fundamentally change how the Sport drives.
The Interior
Inside, the Autobiography makes its premium positioning immediately clear. The cabin gets Full Extended Leather, leather seatbacks, premium carpet mats, and illuminated metal treadplates with Autobiography script. Massage seats are standard. The sound system is the Meridian Signature unit, which is Meridian’s top-tier offering for Range Rover, delivering what JLR describes as exceptionally clear, deep audio across the cabin.
Semi-aniline leather is used throughout, which is softer and more natural in texture compared to the standard hides on lower-spec Sports. The overall effect is a cabin that feels handcrafted rather than manufactured, which at Rs 1.59 crore, is exactly the expectation.
Exterior and Colours
On the outside, the Autobiography gets Red brake calipers, Autobiography badging, and 22-inch forged Style 5131 Satin Black wheels with Gloss Black contrast. The Red calipers are a visual signature of the variant and are visible through the alloys at a glance, communicating the performance intent without shouting.
