BMW India has launched the new 7 Series range in India, expanding the flagship sedan portfolio with petrol and all-electric powertrains. The range starts at Rs 1.95 crore for both the BMW 740 M Sport and BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport, while the range-topping i7 M70 xDrive is priced at Rs 2.65 crore, all ex-showroom. Deliveries will begin from October 2026.
What’s new?
The new 7 Series gets a substantially redesigned exterior featuring BMW’s latest luxury design language. Highlights include the Iconic Glow Kidney Grille, Swarovski crystal headlights and a new monolithic appearance. The M Sport package adds 20-inch alloy wheels, M-specific bumpers, side skirts and brakes, while the i7 M70 gets distinctive M design elements and 21-inch aerodynamic wheels.
Inside, the flagship sedan adopts BMW’s latest Panoramic iDrive system and Operating System X. The dashboard gets a 17.9-inch central display, a 3D head-up display and BMW Panoramic Vision stretching across the windscreen. It is also the first BMW to feature a 14.6-inch passenger screen, which automatically blacks out when the system detects the driver looking towards it.
Rear-seat occupants continue to get the star treatment, with Executive Lounge seats offering a reclining angle of up to 43 degrees. The 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound and radar-based automatic doors further reinforce the car’s chauffeur-focused character.
The petrol-powered 740 M Sport uses a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 400hp and 540Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100kph in 5.4 seconds and has a 250kph top speed.
The i7 eDrive50 xDrive produces 455 hp and 660 Nm, reaching 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds. Its 112.5 kWh battery delivers up to 728 km of WLTP range, an improvement of 125 km over the outgoing model. The i7 M70 produces 680 hp and up to 1,100 Nm, with a 0-100 kmph time of 3.8 seconds and 686 km WLTP range.
BMW also says the i7 is now locally produced in India, making India only the second country after Germany to manufacture the electric 7 Series. The M70, however, will arrive as a completely built-up unit.
