MG Motor India is set to launch the Windsor PRO, an upgraded version of its best-selling electric crossover, on May 6, 2025. The new variant will introduce a larger 50.6 kWh battery, replacing the 38 kWh unit found in the current model. This upgrade will extend the claimed range to 460 km, making the Windsor PRO a more practical choice for long-distance travel.
Design and Features
While the exterior styling remains unchanged, MG has added PRO branding to distinguish the new variant. The Windsor PRO will retain its connected LED taillights, sleek aerodynamic profile, and dual-tone alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin receives a refreshed theme, featuring copper accents, faux wood trims, and black leather upholstery. The 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and 135-degree reclining rear seats remain standard.
Performance and Battery
The 50.6 kWh battery is sourced from the Wuling Cloud EV, which is sold in Indonesia. It offers a 460 km range on the CLTC cycle, compared to the 332 km ARAI-rated range of the current Windsor.
Despite the larger battery, the powertrain remains unchanged. The front-wheel-drive PMS motor continues to produce 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.6 seconds.
Advanced Safety and Tech
The Windsor PRO will introduce ADAS Level 2, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning. Additionally, the model will feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing users to power external devices using the car’s battery.
Market Position and Pricing
The Windsor PRO will sit above the standard Windsor EV, which is priced between INR 14 lakh and INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The PRO variant is expected to start at INR 17 lakh, reflecting its larger battery and added features.
