Leaked: The 2025 Jeep Compass is giving Grand Cherokee vibes

Key highlights

  • The 2025 Jeep Compass has been leaked ahead of its global debut, revealing a Grand Cherokee-inspired design.
  • The SUV will be built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, offering hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
  • Jeep has confirmed that the next-gen Compass will not be launched in India due to high development costs.

The next-generation Jeep Compass has surfaced online through leaked images, showcasing a bold new design that draws inspiration from the Grand Cherokee. The SUV, set for a global launch between 2025 and 2026, will feature electrified powertrains, a more premium interior, and advanced driver-assistance systems.

Design evolution

The leaked visuals, originating from Brazil, reveal a sleeker yet rugged Compass. The front fascia is dominated by slimmer LED headlamps, framing Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille. The boxy wheel arches and black cladding maintain its off-road-ready stance, while a lime-green variant with an “e” badge suggests a fully electric model.

At the rear, the connected LED taillights and redesigned bumper add a modern touch, reinforcing its resemblance to the Grand Cherokee.

Powertrain options

Built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, the 2025 Compass will be available in multiple electrified configurations:

  • Mild hybrid – Combines a combustion engine with electric assistance.
  • Plug-in hybrid – Offers an extended electric-only range.
  • Fully electric – Expected to feature 73 kWh and 97 kWh battery packs, delivering competitive EV capabilities.

Interior and features

Inside, the Compass facelift embraces a more premium layout, featuring a larger touchscreen infotainment system, rotary climate controls, and metallic accents. Higher variants will include a head-up display, dual-pane sunroof, and upgraded upholstery.

The Trailhawk variant will retain its off-road-focused elements, including front skid plates and blacked-out styling details.

Why India won’t get the new Compass?

Jeep has officially confirmed that the next-gen Compass will not be launched in India due to high development costs. The STLA Medium platform has exceeded its initial budget, now requiring an investment of over $400 million. Additionally, Jeep’s export strategy for right-hand-drive models collapsed, making the business case for India unviable.

Had Jeep introduced the new Compass in India, it would have been priced above INR 30 lakh, competing with premium German SUVs rather than mass-market rivals like the Mahindra XUV700.
